Funeral services for Cecil M. Smith, age 95 of Cookeville, will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10:00AM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Dodson Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-9:00PM and Thursday from 7:00AM until time of the service at 10:00AM.

Mr. Smith died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 4:15AM at his residence. Cecil M. Smith was born on December 1, 1916 in Jackson County, TN to the late Perry and Ella Mae Mayberry Smith. Cecil was a builder and attended the Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Golda Lee Barnes and Winnie Ada Smith.

Cecil is survived by his wife: Mary Alice (Sorrell) Wilhite Smith of Cookeville, Son: Neil M. Smith-Chicago, Illinois, Two Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Glenda Faye (Frank) Poncey-Algonac, MI and Gail Lynn (Robert) Krause of Milford, MI. A brother: Billy G. Smith of Cookeville. Three Sisters: Nita Bailes of Swainsboro, GA, Geraldine Pate of Nashville, TN, and Rose Long of Blountville, TN. 5 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.

Danny and Zach Wilhite, Billy and Neil Smith, Bob Krause and Frank Poncey will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made too the local animal rescue.
