Charles Deloy Benson, 77, of Ormond Beach, Fl passed away Saturday July 3, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1932 in Cookeville, TN son of the late Thurman and Emma (Sweat) Benson. Deloy, a retired truck driver and builder moved to Ormond Beach 50 years ago. He enjoyed gardening, collecting Coke memorabilia and antique tractors and trucks to include a 1919 1 ton T-Model Ford pick-up that he and his Grandson Kevin completely restored.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Reba; daughter, Debbie; son, Austin; grandchildren, Melissa, Kevin, Treva and Michael; great grandchildren, Shelly, Amanda, Tucker and two great-great grandchildren Logan and Ella; brother Ben Benson and wife Nola, sisters Mildred Roberson and husband Bill, and Dimple Esslinger; several nieces and nephews and two cherished dogs Sassy and Little-bit.
His daughter Peggy predeceases him. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 7, 2010, 6-8 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N. Nova Rd Ormond Beach. Visitation for Mr. Benson in Cookeville will be at Whitson Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00-9:00PM with funeral services on Saturday at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Brotherton Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Halifax Humane Society.
